My UFO Challenge

I spent all afternoon in my sewing room trying to find all my UFO's.  I want to finish all the tops and start quilting on them so that most of them are finished by the end of the year.  A lot of the blocks I have are from various swaps I've been in over the years.  I don't know why I never did anything with them, I just stacked them on the shelves or put them in a box and forgot all about them.

I made a list of all of them and have the first 4 sitting next to the sewing machine.  There's 15 total which really isn't that bad. I thought there was a lot more.  I need to buy fabric for sashings and bindings for most of the blocks but I do have one UFO ready to go so that will be the first one I assemble.  I hope to get it done over the next week.

Here's a photo of the first one.  I call this Fall Fans.  I assembled the fans years ago and bought the fabric to finish them about 3 years ago.  It's about time I finished this one.

  1. It is like finding old friends when you start looking at your UFO's. Often I wonder why I just didn't keep going on a project and complete it as I liked it so well to start with. I have a Cheri Payne quilt pattern that I have several blocks made for that has become a UFO that I have sadly neglected but like it so well..

    1. I don't know how I let them pile up like that but it's time to get them all finished. And you're right, it is like finding old friends.

    1. Thanks Pat. I hope to look back at the end of the year with a real sense of accomplishment. I'm learning to machine quilt on my domestic machine so I'll have a lot of practice with all the finished quilt tops I hope to complete this year.
